Welding Shop fire in NW Houston accidental.


HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Fire investigators may rule Sunday's large fire in northwest Harris County as an accident.

The fire started Sunday night at the Technical Alloy and Industrial Gas Company along Highway 249 near the Beltway. The highway was shut down for hours as firefighters battled the blaze.

The Harris County Fire Marshal's Office tell us the fire appears to be electrical and may be ruled accidental.

Eyewitnesses did say they heard explosions just before they saw the fire. No one was hurt in the fire.

Man arrested in NW Houston shooting


A man wanted in a fatal shooting in northwest Houston last month has been arrested.

Artavious Deon Hollins 27, was arrested Friday, Houston police said on Tuesday. Hollins is charged with murder, accused of killing 40-year-old Derrick Tyrone Williams.

Police said the two were arguing about 3:35 p.m. on Nov. 5 at an apartment complex courtyard at 4250 West 34th, west of T.C. Jester, when Hollins went to his apartment and got a gun. He returned to the courtyard and continued to argue with Williams. Hollins then shot him in the chest, police said, and fled.

Williams died at the scene.

Two arrested after police chase in NW Houston

HOUSTON—Two men were arrested early Monday after leading police on a short chase in northwest Houston.

An HPD unit spotted a car speeding inbound on Highway 290 at Mangum around 3:45 a.m. and attempted to pull it over, but the driver refused to stop.
The driver hopped onto the West loop, U-turned at Memorial and continued driving on and off the freeway for about 30 minutes.

The chase finally ended on Eldridge at FM 1960 after the car ran over spikes in the middle of the road and blew out the two front tires.
The driver and passenger were then taken into custody.

5 injured in school bus wreck in NW Houston

HOUSTON—A car ran a red light and hit an Aldine Independent School district bus in northwest Houston, police said.


The wreck happened at about 3:30 p.m. on Highway 249 at West Mount Houston.
Forty-eight students from Eisenhower High School were on the bus and four were transported to the hospital as a precaution.

The driver of the car was also taken to the hospital. There was no word on that person’s condition.
