Woman killed during home invasion ...


Houston Chron: Authorities have identified a woman who was fatally shot when three masked men burst into her house and threatened her teenage daughter during a home invasion in northwest Harris County last night.

Peggy Ariza, 40, died in the shooting, which occurred at the home in the 17100 block of Copper Crossing about 9:30 p.m., according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said Ariza, 40, was shot at least once in the chest and was flown by LifeFlight medical helicopter to Memorial Herman Hospital, where she later died.

No other injuries were reported.

Deputies said when Ariza's 17-year-old daughter answered the door bell at the home, three men wearing ski masks pushed their way inside. One of them grabbed the girl by the neck and put a gun to her head. The girl screamed.

At that moment, Ariza walked into the room. Then one of them men opened fire, hitting Ariza. The trio left after the shooting.

No descriptions of the men were available.

Investigators have no suspects or motive in the case.
